The Dr. Karl Remeis-Observatoy is the astronomical institute of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and is located in the city of Bamberg. The observatory was founded in 1889 as a private institution. 1962 it was integrated as the astronomical institute of the university of Erlangen-Nuremberg. The scientists at the observatory investigate different astrophysical phenomena and are responsible for education and teaching of astronomy and astrophysics at the university of Erlangen.
